This semester has been very exciting for Zeta Delta chapter as we return to more regular pre-COVID programming. Tailgates are back full force, chapter is back in-person, and we’re hard at work planning the first in-person philanthropy since Fall 2019. We kicked off the semester with a fantastic beach weekend planned by Social Chair Sam McCarthy and her committee. As is tradition, the brothers returned to Catalina Manor and had a blast down in Myrtle Beach. Right after beach weekend we held Info Session and the rest of our rush events. Recruitment chair Rateesh Hegneshwar planned an awesome rush, the first one held fully in person since Spring 2020. It was an incredibly competitive rush cycle with over 100 students coming out. Ultimately we decided on a great pledge class of 17. Since then we’ve been busy planning a host of events centered around our three pillars: brotherhood, profession, and service. Brotherhood chair Rachel Slattery has planned trips to Soda City, Horseshoe hang-outs, a State Fair trip, and a Founder’s Day Low Country Boil. Professional Development hit the ground running this semester with a company visit from AMD coordinated by committee chair Erin Kremer. Finally Service has returned to more normal involvement with chair Ben Gehant planning several river clean ups and dog walking events.
We are also bringing back more of the traditional ZD events that had to be put on hold during the pandemic. Fall Into Science is scheduled for November 13th at Blatt field and we are hard at work building demonstration pieces and planning all of our STEM activities. FIFA nights have returned for the first time since Spring 2020. It’s been a competitive league so far this semester, with many first time FIFA players. Public Relations chair Lauren Speck is beginning planning for the annual Clemson Car Smash which is tentatively scheduled for November 22nd. We’re also busy planning the 2022 Southeastern Regionals Conference which will be held at UofSC on February 19th. It’s an honor to be able to host such a great event and we’re all really excited to have the SE Region down in Columbia. It’s a rebuilding semester for the chapter and everyone is very excited to get back to all of our favorite traditions.
